I have a few non-negotiables. One of them is that I won’t leave my apartment without filling in my brows. I would skip brushing my hair before going out without tending to my brows. I find it key for framing the face and looking pulled together even when feeling anything but (especially when combined with tinting lashes every 2-3 weeks…bye-bye mascara!).

With that said I’ve tried dozens of brow pencils over the years in a quest to swiftly, naturally and neatly define and fill my brows.

Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Pencil ($25) is a brow pencil made with both fibers and powder, this formula consists of silk cotton tree fibers that adhere to the skin and hair to volumize, fill and define for natural-looking and full brows and this pencil comes in a dozen shades so you can find the one that fits just right. It also has an attached spoolie and is long-wear…I’ve slept in it and woken up with it still in tact the next day.

twenty/twenty beauty Full Brows Tinted Gel ($26) is an eye-doctor developed brow gel that fills, defines and shapes brows while also being formulated with ingredients that help promote fuller brows over time (via castor and argan oils). Because of the gel consistency it’s better able to cover grays than a pencil. It comes in three shades.

Available in three shades, Christian Louboutin’s Les Yeux Noirs Brow Definer ($40) is one of the longest lasting products I’ve ever had.

I used daily for over a year and there’s still a good chunk of it left. It comes in three shades with a spoolie on one end.

For an affordable find, checkout essence makeup’s Lash & Brow Gel Mascara. It retails for just $3.99 and is considered by many to be a great dupe for Glossier’s Boy Brow.

We can’t talk about brows without talking about Anastasia Beverly Hills. The brand recently launched Brow Genius ($65), one of their biggest launches in recent times.

While I haven’t tried it personally, they have photo studies to show the impressive results after being applied every day in the morning and night for 8 weeks.
