Over recent months, there’s been zero shortage of shows for us fashion enthusiasts to binge – from Cristóbal Balenciaga to The New Look.
Dropping June 7 on Hulu (and Disney+ for the rest of the world) is the Becoming Karl Lagerfeld mini-series. According to its log line, the episodes will “plunges us into the heart of the 70s, in Paris, Monaco and Rome, to follow the formidable blossoming of this complex and iconic personality of Parisian couture, already driven by the ambition to become the Emperor of fashion.”
The late German designer will be played by Daniel Brühl. Throughout the series which spans a total of 6 episodes, Lagerfeld is a ready-to-wear designer, unknown to the general public. While he meets and falls in love with Jacques de Bascher (played by Théodore Pellerin), the most mysterious of fashion designers dares to take on Yves Saint Laurent (Arnaud Valois). Becoming Karl Lagerfeld is a story told for the first time on screen, adapted from the book Kaiser Karl by Raphaëlle Bacqué.
