Edward Enninful likes to pick unexpected cover subjects for British Vogue. He gave Judi Dench her very first Vogue cover and now Thandiwe Newton makes her long-overdue Vogue cover appearance for May 2021. The actress reverts back to the original spelling of her name for the two covers, both photographed by Mikael Jansson and styled by Edward. For the newsstand cover (below), Thandiwe wears a look from Kim Jones’ debut Fendi haute couture collection then switches things up in Isabel Marant for the subscribers’ alternative (after the jump).

The covers immediately ignited debate on our forums. “I imagine most people will think the cover has a typo.

I would have liked something more spring/summer in vibe,” voiced 8eight.
