Style made simple: the blazer and jeans

Can you tell how happy I am to be back in my all-time favourite outfit: the go-everywhere blazer and jeans? Similar to finding your tribe and hanging out with like-minded people – finding the clothes that are on your side will help you feel at ease. The jacket section of my wardrobe remained largely undisturbed over the year of not-going-anywhere. What a relief, then, for a Jacket Junkie, like me, to be back in business. The first photo is from one of my recent Daily Telegraph Ageless Style columns – and I think it’s quite obvious how comfortable I am in this outfit. I look happier. I am content in my clothing. And surely, sartorially speaking, that’s what we all want? To feel relaxed, to feel top-notch. Fashion that makes us feel good. While I enjoy experimenting and trying new combinations – both to increase my options and hopefully to inspire my readers – there are times when I know an outfit isn’t quite right and I won’t be bothering with it again. But, for me, the blazer and jeans is always a winning combination.

The Daily Telegraph.

When you love an outfit, find a variety of ways to wear it. All. Year. Round. The summer blazer, below, is in a lighter fabric and looser, oversized shape; the jeans a wide leg crop. Much as I have grown to like a wafty dress and ugly sandals, these more structured clothes are what I feel happiest in.

Everything looks better with a blazer over it.

Second outfit: all my own clothes. The jacket was a super-sale bargain from Dries Van Noten (at Liberty) last year. T-shirt is an old one by Theory (similar HERE). Barrel leg jeans from COS.
