Spring Is Here! It’s Time To Switch Your Beauty Routine!

Remember when we asked you to change your skincare routine to adjust to colder weather? Well, it’s that time of year again. After months of snow and freezing temperatures, winter has (almost) left us, leaving an aftermath of dry, itchy skin in its wake. So how should we prep our faces for the warmer days ahead? Here some tips!

Start exfoliating (if you weren’t already)

Spring is the prime time to return to exfoliating and brighten the dull skin that has accumulated during winter. But be careful not to overdo it—crossing over from a bright complexion to an irritated one can happen quickly with overzealous exfoliation (two times a week max).

SPF (and no, the SPF in your foundation is not enough)

We realize that this is pretty well-known, however, sunscreen application is so very important.

Sun exposure causes premature aging, lines, and wrinkles and greatly increases the risk of skin cancer. Invest in your skin with a sunscreen that you will wear every day and reapply.

Swap your heavier, winter moisturizer for a water-based one

Your skin retains more water during the warmer months. This means that a lighter moisturizer is in order. Water-based ones work wonderfully and prevent over saturating your skin and/or clogging pores.

Stop Using Heavy Foundation

Excess heat and humidity will leave your pores prone to sweat and dirt buildup.

So as much as possible, avoid using heavy foundation and concealer creams during the spring and summer seasons. Otherwise, you might experience an acne breakout.

Apart from using light foundation, get rid of your cream-based makeup remover and switch to micellar water instead. It does a great job of removing makeup and sweat, something most cream-based removers can’t do.

These simple habits may seem inconsequential, but they can have a significant impact on your skin’s health.
