Glamour should always be on the agenda, and Vogue Japan is delivering us endless amounts of glamour with the unveiling of their October 2023 cover. The Japanese fashion bible’s head of editorial content Tiffany Godoy enlists Mona Tougaard as the mag’s latest cover star, who poses for photographer Hugo Comte, 32 months after her last. Tougaard, who is of Somali, Ethiopian and Turkish heritage serves nothing but glamour and poise in the glossy cover photograph, styled by Patti Wilson wearing a look from Burberry’s Fall 2023 collection.
Needless to say, the outcome thrilled the vast majority of our forum members to no end. “STUNNING! I love seeing fashion through Hugo’s lens and Mona looks amazing,” raved fenty.
“Love everything. Especially the yellow, so friendly to the eyes,” admired oaklee91.
“I don’t mind this at all. There’s a vintage element that works,” Urban Stylin commented.
Vogue28 applauded: “The best, most glamorous and most high-fashion cover of Vogue Japan, in what feels like forever! Not even a massive Mona Tougaard fan, but she is selling me this to no end. Obsessed with how polished and poised the cover image is, it’s perfect IMO!”
Although not everyone was so quick to applaud the outcome. “The obvious lightening of Mona’s skin tone just makes me angry,” voiced FashionFanatico.
“They’ve totally flattened out her bone structure with that lighting and retouching,” bluebanter chimed in.
