Happy hump day, ladies! I can’t lie, I’m glad it’s Wednesday; that means I’m halfway through camp. It’s so much fun, but it’s also exhausting. Two more days is about all I can handle. Haha!
I haven’t done a Q&A post in a while, so I thought I would gather some of the questions I get repeatedly and share the answers with you.
Question #1
How have you grown your bangs out, and how did you do a middle part? I get this question all the time, AND I get comments and DM’s letting me know some of you love my new look, but I also get comments and DM’s letting me know some of you DON’T like it at all, and would I please change it back.
I never know how to answer when someone asks me to change my hair for them. It’s a little awkward.
Right now, I’m enjoying it, so I’m going to keep it this way. But with everything, there’s a season, and this season will eventually pass, I’m sure!
First, my bangs were already semi-long because I was doing a deep side part. When all the hoopla came out about older people, wear side parts, and younger people wear middle parts, I started looking around, and while I did see both side and middle parts, I didn’t see as many deep side parts.
I talked to my stylist, and she felt a deep side part was a more dated look. Now it’s totally fine to wear it, and certainly, if you have a deep side part and love it, keep wearing it.
But, I know that one thing that makes us look older is not keeping up with current hairstyles. We’ve all seen someone who is still rocking the 80’s big hair and perm look.
My stylist said if I wanted more of a middle part, to start training my hair, so that’s what I did! I blow dry my bangs where I want them to go.
I have a deep side part, a side part, and then a semi-middle part in the pictures below.
I rarely do a straight middle part. I like it a little off-center.
If you’re thinking about doing a middle part, start moving your part over, and if you have bangs, train them while you’re blowing, drying your hair where you want them to go.
Question #2
Do you wear facial powder with your makeup routine? Yes, I love a setting powder! I have combination skin, so I need some light powder. The key is not to make it too matte-looking. A dewy look is a good thing.
Here are the two I have used and like; right now, I’m using the Tatcha setting powder.
- Tatcha The Silk Powder Protective Setting Powder– This is a clean product. It’s a protective, talc-free setting powder that blurs pores, shields from pollution and blue light, and provides a translucent, soft-radiant finish.
- Charlotte Tilbury– Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder- An ultra-fine setting powder that blurs imperfections and visibly reduces shine.
Question #3
What is your nail color? This is another question I get all the time. I have SNS nails, and the color is Funny Bunny. Funny Bunny is an OPI color, and you can wear the color without having SNS nails.
I like wearing a white color on my nails because it goes with everything. I also like a light color because it will make stubby fingers elongated.
Question #4
What skincare do you use? I love trying new products, and there is a lot of good skincare out there.
I have some areas that I am specifically targeting, and my neck is one of those areas. I see an Aesthetic Specialist (who’s also a physician assistant); she recommends SkinMedica Neck Correct Cream (morning and nighttime). I’ve been using it for several months, and it takes up to four months to start seeing a noticeable difference.
I also use Shani Darden Retinol Reform (nighttime) to help with wrinkles. I really like Sunday Riley products, and I use Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment (nighttime), Sunday Riley – C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum (morning), and Sunday Riley JUNO Antioxidant & Superfood Face Oil (nighttime).
I mix the Face Oil with Revision Skincare Firming Night Treatment a couple of times a week for extra hydration. For a daytime moisturizer, I use Revision Skincare D.E.J. Face Cream.
I will spend money on good skincare that I believe works, and at this stage in life, I need them to work; I’m not playing around! I use small amounts of the products, and I make the products last for months.
Question #5
How do you whiten your teeth? Some of you may not know, but I’m a dental hygienist by profession. I practiced for 25 years until my blog became too much for me to do part-time. In 2015 I quit practicing as a hygienist, and blogging became my full-time job.
I still think that have trays made at the dental office and using a whitening treatment is the best option. I had my whitening trays made years ago, and I’m still using them.
When I go to my dentist, I pick up Colgate whitening and use it every 6 months to a year. I will whiten my teeth for 30 minutes, 3 days in a row.
The upfront cost of the trays is the biggest expense, but after you have them, the whitening is around $60, and it will last a couple of years (depending on how often you whiten your teeth).
In the long run, it’s the least expensive in my opinion. I don’t buy whitening toothpaste which is typically more expensive. I also think the least chemicals in your toothpaste, the better.
Okay, this post is getting long, so I’m going to stop here! Next month, I’ll get to more questions.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.
Beauty For the Heart~~ Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory! Isaiah 6:3
This verse says the angels see the whole earth is full of his (God’s) glory. They see the glory, but what do we see?
I find myself focusing more on the bad sometimes. I need to shift my focus and see His glory. It’s all around us!
