It’s Fashion Month—30 Show-Worthy Items I’m Building My Outfits Around

Most Wanted is a weekly franchise that goes live every Monday. The story features a list of one editor or influencer’s current favorite 30 fashion or beauty products around a certain theme.

The days leading up to New York Fashion Week, aka the first stop of four in the marathon that is fashion month, are some of the busiest of the entire year for those who call the industry home. Not only do you have to make your schedule for some of, if not the entire month, locked in, you also need to brainstorm coverage ideas, meet with publicists, attend pre-NYFW events, and, the most mentally taxing of all, plan your outfits.

Since fashion month's kickoff is just days away, I as a fashion editor, am knee-deep in the planning process, taking inspiration from the runways (both current and archival), street style, my never-ending Instagram saved folder, and more, and pulling from my existing closet before shopping out the final touches. It's a full-time job, but one that's certainly worth it when fashion month comes around and I love everything I'm wearing. (Yes, it does make a difference.) Scroll down for a sneak peek into my fashion-month wishlist.

Every good outfit starts with an elevated basic.

These studded jeans are perfect for those early or not super busy days of fashion week when you want to look cool but not put too much effort in.

A key styling piece in 2023, according to celebs like Hailey Bieber and couture collections by Schiaparelli.

Style these with your stretchy black headband for a very retro, elegant look.

Massimo Dutti has this dress styled in two ways on its site, alone and with this crinkled midi skirt underneath, and both options have me completely and absolutely smitten.

Fashion week calls for a chic, understated heel that you can wear with every outfit if you need to and isn't too high that you can't walk anywhere. No one has enough budget for Ubers to every show. No one.

My coworker Jasmine just got this ring in the mail and we were hardcore ogling over it all day at the office last week.

The perfect black blazer, found. For fashion week, I'll be styling it with a sheer skirt, but normally, it'll probably accompany my go-to jeans and T-shirts.

Just imagine how cute this skirt will look with the above black blazer.

Point-toe flats are everywhere right now.

I've had this bag for about a year now and have worn it at least four days a week since the day I got it. It has three compartments which is great during fashion week because it helps me keep everything organized. Plus, it goes with everything.

I've been loving wearing a baby-pink button-down shirt with sheer skirts, denim, hot pants, you name it. Mine's vintage Brooks Brothers, but this H&M alt is just as good and far easier to source.

I just got these in royal blue and am planning on buying every other color and wearing them on rotation all year long.

Our NYC beauty editor Katie wore these in black to the office the other day after buying them from one of my stories and couldn't stop raving about their quality and comfortability. All for just $60. And since fashion week involves a great deal of walking around, those are two things I absolutely need.

I haven't been able to shake the thought of Tory Burch's sculpted tunics since I first saw them on the runway at the brand's spring 2023 show last September. A year later, they're on sale and sitting patiently in my cart while I do the girl math necessary to convince me to press purchase before NYFW.

These feel very Carolyn Bessette Kennedy to me and anything she would've worn gets a resounding yes from me.

I can't wait to have my NYFW Carrie Bradshaw moment in this new Helsa mini.

These just arrived and are so so so chic. You'd never believe they were $23 in person.

I've been low-key watching these for a while and now that I have an excuse to buy them, I think I have to.

I need at least one red moment during fashion week. It's practically the law.

I've been looking for the perfect A-line white skirt for months, but it wasn't until I tried this one on from Lafayette 148 that I finally found it. Simply put, it checks off every box.

My latest designer-bag purchase will be debuting during New York Fashion Week and I already know it'll be the star of the show.

Oh look, I found 2023's most-wanted accessory for $60.

There's something so upscale and rich about this draped, off-the-shoulder Ref top. I can't resist it.

A good belt will take any outfit from 0 to 100. And this one's more than good—it's great.

This is the skirt that I'll be lacing the above belt through.

Swooning.

Those puff sleeves have me in an absolute chokehold. The sale price is only an added bonus.

I'm still into the pants-as-tights trend no matter how often my mom calls to try to convince me not to be.
