I’m a Fashion Editor and Predict These 18 Under-$70 Pieces Will Be Big Hits

The question of what's next is not an uncommon inquiry I get asked on the regular. There's an abundance of collections, capsules, emerging designers, and everything in between dropping each month, that it can definitely be a daunting task to properly wade through. It's a lot to process even as an editor in the industry, so I imagine that bewilderment is only amplified for casual fashion fans. Well, hopefully, this list will make it easy. Our latest in-house Target collection draws inspiration from the many trends that have been filtering through the current fashion system—especially hitting on the big style concepts fashion people unanimously love. To make this list short and sweet, I gathered up the coolest pieces I've been eyeing from the recent drop and categorized them into the five trends gaining serious momentum right now. Each piece is affordable too, so it won't leave a terrible dent in your wallet. Keep reading ahead to check out the full list.

At the dawn of summer, we spotted with our eagle eyes, one of the most relaxed trends we've seen thus far: the shorts set. This take elevates the concept to the next level with the two-piece outfit draped in punchy prints that add a bit of flair. Since all eyes will be on your co-ord, stay subtle with any coordinating jewels or footwear.

Who doesn't love a bit of romantic drama? The conceptual intent of a gothic maxi is quite simple: it's a sweeping, moody dress that pulls you in its vortex with a unique silhouette. It can be loose or structured—the main objective is that it hits your shins or lower, and (of course!) is a rich black color. I recommend black boots or sandals and no jewelry to complete the vibe.

Big prints are thing lately—can't you tell? What separates these from the rest is that they're large in scale, incorporating bright colors in high contrast to really make them pop. If you're under the impression they're difficult to pull off, I assure you in reality it's quite easy: just stick with pastel or light-colored accessories to let the prints shine.

There's a Staud dress I've been noticing on my feed which also coincidentally has been in my cart for weeks. It features a two-tone palette, but what I love the most is its lineup of front buttons from top to bottom. These dresses from the most recent Who What Wear Target drop also feature that same trendy detail but at a fraction of the price.

A tank and trousers will always be a timeless fit, but I can't lie when I say that an amped-up tank with trousers exceeds it in cool points. Whether designed with layers, cut-outs, or ties, a tank with off-beat an detail is so much more fun (and trendy) right now.
