The beautiful burgundy and forest green combination has become an everyday favourite. So much so, I’m considering moving the pairing into spring. Swapping wool, cashmere and heavy cotton drill for lighter layers, and eventually when summer comes, loose-fitting cotton and silk. Both these shades make good wardrobe foundations – as versatile as navy or black – and should not be restricted to the winter months.

Just think of how refreshing an Italian salad looks in bright sunlight – the Lollo Rosso leaves perfectly complimenting the wild rocket (I’ve been watching too much Stanley Tucci). Yep, this perennially stylish colour combo works all-year-round.

For inspiration look to Roksanda’s spring/ summer 2022 collection where merlot meets fluorescent green. Gorgeous! In moderation… with fluorescents, a little goes a long way.

Another striking combination appeared on a deep red wine maxi dress with a lime green splash and a dollop of rose pink and white. And, the other day I popped into COS, where the new spring collection features a bevvy of burgundy accompanied by bright pink and navy.

Adding a flash of acid green or fuchsia is the way to rev things up.

So many ways to wear burgundy (and green) – and if you want to brighten up the blue, try cobalt instead of navy.

What’s springing up in your wardrobe, right now? Don’t miss the seasonal updates in the TNMA shop.

STYLE NOTES:

The Gap coated jeans from a previous collaboration are now reduced ( there are still some sizes available HERE ). The cashmere roll neck I bought in the Chinti & Parker sale.

My old boots are from Solovair and the ‘ Withnail & I’ coat is an old favourite from Harris Wharf. The green jacket underneath was a gift from Toast, last year. (Kin at John Lewis has a similar style in cobalt blue). My ring is from a Claire Stratton sample sale. The saddle bag was a gift from sustainable brand LPOL.

That’s Not My Age is supported by its audience.
