Dining Room Halloween Decor

Where are my procrastinators at? Haha! Well, I’m sure by now you’re all set for Halloween weekend. Got the treats done?

Got the Halloween grocery shopping done? Costume ready (if wearing one)? And perhaps you got some pumpkins for carving or some Halloween decor out. Well if you’re not ready yet, you don’t really need to go all out!

You don’t even have to spend a fortune. Just look at how I incorporated Halloween decor into our living room that already has a Christmas tree up (unintentional)! Let me share with you these simple Halloween decorations that I reuse year after year – and can fit in a small cube bin with plenty of space left.

The main key here is to gather your black and white pieces that may probably be part of your year-round decor or everyday wares: plates, dishes, placemats, candles, gingham or black and white check anything, just like my MacKenzie Childs dishes shown here. By piling on the black and white, and gathering them all out for display – say, on a mantel, sideboard, buffet table, console, or on top of your dining table – they make a collective impact.

Now all that you need is to add that Halloween factor. It can be spiders, web, bats (super trendy the past two years), skulls, witches, or ghost figures. Best part, you don’t need a lot! Because you already have the colors going,

Spiders, bats and fake web fabric are pretty cheap and are usually around or under $10.

A pack of spiders are about $2! And I reuse them year after year.

TIP: Don’t throw away the plastic they came in. When it’s time to take down the Halloween decor, I just put them back in their plastic and they don’t take up much space.

Another affordable way to give your usual decor a more Halloween feel is through black washi tape! I loved adding it to my candles.

But I went a little washi tape-crazy and did the same to a flower vase and added black tears to my bust pot that you can see in the living room Halloween decor post. See the washi-tape video here.

And if you read the previous post or watched this video on my Facebook page, I also added this black spray-painted ornamental grass that I cut from our front yard. Didn’t spend a thing with old spray paint we’ve had from a previous project. Do you like it here or in the living room more?

Louis the Beagle wants to know!

Hahaha!

Or maybe he just wants his costume off? LOL! Happy Halloween!
