For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.
I think it’ll be really interesting to see where workwear goes in the next year or two — including for suits. Right now we’re still seeing a lot of the slim pants/voluminous jacket combos, like the one above, but I wonder if we’ll start to see more voluminous pants/fitted jackets combos. (How much will the conservative workwear wardrobe change entirely?! Are sheath dresses and heels a thing of the past? We shall see…)
For the moment, at least, I like this suit — it’s got a nice tailored vibe but also somehow still looks comfortable and cool. I’ve seen the brand around before, but didn’t know much, so I clicked through to read the little bio, which is cool:
Pallas Paris was founded in 1991 . . . specialising in ‘petite couture’, a tailoring technique where a suit is created by one person from start to finish. It’s now under the creative direction of Claire Thompson-Jonville, [. . . who] references her extensive knowledge of tailoring to create blazers, trousers and jumpsuits inspired by looks from 1990s icons, such as Kate Moss and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
Very cool. The blazer is $1489, and the pants are $888, both at MatchesFashion.com.
Psst: I like the look of this plus-size suit, although I have a lot of mixed feelings about denim suits. I will say that if you’re transitioning to a more casual office, this kind of denim jacket can be a great one to “demote” plain work pants or sheath dresses in a way that’s polished but friendly.
