5 Easy Ways to Look Put Together for Women Over 40

This time of year, it’s easy to get in a winter rut. The weather is cold, and we may want to live in our loungewear. But we can still look polished and put together whether we’re going to work, church, brunch, or even the supermarket.

Here are 5 Easy Ways to Look Put Together for Women Over 40

1. Develop a style uniform • One of the easiest ways to look put together every day is to have a go-to outfit that always looks good.

My go-to outfit is always a black top/sweater/blouse with denim or pants. A lot of times, I will add a pop of leopard.

Whatever it is, your uniform is a stylish outfit you can fall back on with minimal effort.

It should also be something you can adjust for a range of dress codes and seasons.

Rolled Denim Boyfriend Shorts (I’m wearing a size 27, these run big, so size down)//Slide Sandal (size up 1/2 size)//Eyelet Trim Top (I’m wearing an XS, TTS for Gibson, CYNDI10 FOR 10% off)//Earrings

Black sweater (TTS, I’m wearing a small) • Kut from the Kloth Jeans (similar option here) • Sunglasses • Earrings • Faux Leather Tote • Blondo Booties ( I sized up 1/2 size)

Denim Jacket • Blouse (cyndi10 for 10% off) • Olive Pants • Handbag • Black Belt (similar option here) • Leopard Heel (similar option here)

Eyelet Trim Top (I’m wearing an XS, TTS for Gibson)//Wit & Wisdom Jeans (I’m wearing a size 4, TTS for this brand)//Sam Edelman sandals (TTS)//Madewell Bag//Earrings//Bracelets

2. Find your colors • It’s important to know your best colors. On the days you feel less than stellar, grab one of a top or sweater in a color that flatters you, and you will look and feel better.

If you’re unsure what color looks best on you, here’s a short breakdown from InStyle; People with cool skin tones look best in bright blue, emerald, deep purple, lavender, ruby, and bright rose. Favorite neutrals for them are gray, navy, and white.

People with warm skin tones look best in orange, yellow, gold, warm green, and olive. The best neutrals for them are taupe, creamy white, and chocolate.

And those with neutral skin tones look best in light peach, dusty pink, jade green, and camo green.

Favorite neutrals for them are creamy white, taupe, and gray.

I feel best when I’m wearing bright blue or red.

Casual Turtleneck Sweater (I’m wearing a small) • Kut From the Kloth Jeans (same jeans, different wash) • Vince Camuto Loafers (I sized up 1/2 size) • Earrings

Chunky Knit Pullover Sweater (I’m wearing a small) • Kut From the Kloth Jeans (same jean, different wash) • Slip On Mules (I sized up 1/2 size) • Earrings

Wrap V-Neck Dress (TTS, I’m wearing a small) • Earrings (similar option here) • Transparent Heels • Gold Bracelet • Silver Bracelet

3. Up your shoe game • A great shoe is the icing on the cake. If it’s done correctly, it’ll blend in with the rest of your outfit.

You don’t have to have a lot of shoes, but you need to have the right ones. A cute white sneaker, a black and brown bootie, a pair of loafers, sandals, and a nude heel are all great options.

Crepe Kenzo Dress (sold color options here, I’m wearing a small) • White crop tank (I’m wearing a small) • Earrings • Sunglasses • Nude Sandals

Black sweater (TTS, I’m wearing a small) • Kut from the Kloth Jeans (similar option here) • Sunglasses • Earrings • Faux Leather Tote • Blondo Booties ( I sized up 1/2 size)

Square Toe Heels

4. Pay attention to your nails • Well-manicured nails show that you pay attention to detail. This doesn’t mean you have to have your nails done at the salon but keep your nails looking nice.

If you polish them yourself, don’t wear chipped polish.

I wear Funny Bunny on my nails year-round.

5. Classy Outerwear • The easiest way to look put together this time of year is to throw on a chic coat or jacket.

Even when wearing a lounge set, adding a coat to your outfit can take your outfit up a notch. I love a belted trench coat, teddy coats, and puffer jackets.

Bb Dakota Fozzie Coat (TTS, I’m wearing a small) • Cutout Velour Tee (TTS, I’m wearing a small) • Five-pocket Pull-on Pant (TTS, I’m wearing a size 4) • Earrings • Coco Bag • Black Bootie (I sized up 1/2 size)

Double Breasted Belted Premium Wool-Blend Coat (similar option here)//Capped Sleeve Crew Neck Sweater (I’m wearing a small)//High Waisted Black Modern Straight Jeans (I’m wearing a size 6)//Earrings//Snap-Frame Clutch in a Neutral Print

Side Split Crewneck Sweatshirt (I’m wearing an XS) • High Waist Cozy Tech Leggings (I’m wearing a small) • Long Sleeve T-Shirt (another option HERE) • ON Cloud X Training Shoe • Oversized Puffer Jacket (I’m wearing a small) • Hoop Earrings

Beauty for the Heart~~ “He said to me, ‘My grace is enough for you, because power is made perfect in weakness.’ So I’ll gladly spend my time bragging about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power can rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Truth: Paul had a thorn in the flesh.

Scripture doesn’t explain whether this was physical, emotional, or connected to some temptation. All it tells us is that a man of profound faith and deep commitment was stricken, causing him to cry out to God for relief.

God did not heal Paul; instead, he realized the thorn in his flesh helped him maintain humility and kept him dependant on God. It also allowed him to boast about God because anything he did was through the power of Christ.

So if you feel weak today, know that Christ can use that weakness for His glory.
