We all have busy lives and families with a list of things to do that never seems to end.
With that said, we still need to get things done and ensure we have a clean, organized home.
Furthermore, you can learn how a clean and organized home benefits our mental and physical health and well-being. Their research indicates that maintaining a clean living space promotes calmness and a sense of control over one’s day-to-day life.
Moreover, studies have shown that your home environment doesn’t need to be spotless; however, clutter can be detrimental to your mental state. Furthermore, it contributes to depression, trouble focusing, confusion, and stress.
Of course, you’ll want to start small, be mindful of your space throughout the day, create a sense of comfort, and carry those feelings with you wherever you go. I’m sure you are thinking – easier said than done, right?

1 – Before You Make A New Purchase, Ask Yourself The Following
We all enjoy buying new things, especially when we have credit cards on hand. Before making a purchase, always wait. You can put it in your shopping cart for later. This way, you have time to ask yourself the following questions:

- Am I going to charge it?
- Do I already own something that does the same job?
- Will I feel guilty after buying it?
- Is there room for it?
- Will this put me over my monthly budget?
- What will happen if I don’t buy this?

- How often will I actually use this—once, occasionally, or regularly?
- Will I still want this in a week/month/year?
I know these questions might seem like a lot, but they are essential in determining whether or not you really want the new purchase.
As the holidays approach, this is also a great way to reduce spending.
Yes, this type of thinking can help you maintain a clean and organized home and encourage others to do the same.
2 – Have A Clean, Organized Home by Getting Rid of It
For the past three years, my mission has stayed the same: to declutter my home of things I no longer want or need. Since my husband’s passing, I have realized more than ever how truly unnecessary these things are to me.
Don’t let an unexpected event happen in your life before you come to that understanding as well. So, get rid of stuff sitting on a shelf or in a drawer that you really don’t need. Ask yourself, why am I holding on to this?

6 – Keep Your Visible Surfaces Clean and Clear
Yes, keeping your surfaces clean and clutter-free will help you maintain a clean and organized home.
For example, your countertops, dining table, coffee table, and nightstands can quickly become a cluttered mess.
If you need to keep items around, be sure to have a storage basket handy to store them. This way, you have what you need handy and it stays neatly organized. It always surprises me when I walk into someone’s home and they have messes on almost every countertop and table.
Not only does it look bad, but it’s not good for others to experience, and it’s not good for your mental health.
7 – Catch Up On Paperwork, Emails, and Everything Social Media
Okay, so it might seem like a lot, asking you to take the time to catch up on all the things you’ve put off, especially paperwork and emails. Believe it or not, these things prevent you from having a clean, organized home.
You might not realize it, but these unfinished items lurk in the back of your mind and can cause stress in turn, preventing you from catching up on your other daily chores, because it makes you feel defeated.
Set aside at least one hour a day, every day, until all of your neglected paperwork and electronic media are taken care of.

8 – The Simple Habit We Often Neglect
Returning items to their original locations is essential for maintaining a clean, organized home. Of course, if you don’t have a place for something, create one so you know where it is and you stay organized.
For example, when you leave a room, take something with you that doesn’t belong there and put it in its designated place. Please don’t leave it on a countertop and forget about it.
Moreover, that’s why it’s essential to have a good storage system in your home. So, whether you are in the bathroom or kitchen, always put things back where you found them.
It’s a simple habit to develop, but an essential one for maintaining a clean and organized space.
9 – Laundry – The Pile Up
We all know how easy it is to let our laundry pile up. After it does, it can cause stress and lead to neglecting our other daily chores. I like to do my laundry directly after showering. This way, I developed a good habit that allowed me to avoid pile-ups and create a sense of accomplishment.
So, be sure to start a load of laundry each day to prevent large piles from building up.
